Every potato we use can be fully traced back to it’s field, along with it’s growing regime & history. Our chips are chosen and prepared off site with the potato peelings and the water recycled to reduce landfill waste. Our staff know the potato variety used each day and the farm our merchant sources them from. We always advertise this on our vehicle.
We are currently frying with Ramos from Newport, Monmouthshire. Some of the other potatoes we prefer are listed below with their characteristics.
Ramos is a Dutch-bred crop that creates big-sized high-yields and is so known as the ‘farmers’ potato. With thin skins, they are also very easy to peel and also don’t experience the same problems other potatoes do when stored at cool temperatures.
Ramos potatoes are not as prone to over cooking or under cooking unlike Maris Piper and the end result is a light and fluffy potato center with a slightly crunchy coating. We will always display the type of potatoes we are using and where they were grown and harvested.
